Post-16 Provision - Preparation for Adulthood (PfA)

Becks Errett - Asst Headteacher PfA Lead

My name is Becks Errett and I’m the Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) Leader here at Ravenshall, as well as leading the department, I teach Design and Technology, Horticulture, Crafts, Independent Living Skills and Makaton.

Leader of PfA is an extremely privileged position as I am lucky enough to lead a phenomenal staff team and an amazing cohort of students. The Student and staff team are an extremely diverse range of individuals making for a happy, inclusive and accepting environment in which to work and learn. Everyone is fully committed to upholding the school ethos, everyone is important, and we are all treated equally as individuals.

The PfA Team delivers a highly specialised curriculum designed to provide learners with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge on which to build a positive, full, independent adult life. Currently 100% of our leavers go on to secure a place at college to continue their learning, something we are all extremely proud of.

Our curriculum offer is a successful balance of practical, vocational subjects and core functional skills. We have high expectations of all our learners and are ambitious in our aspirations for all in PfA. Our learners never cease to amaze us, rising to the challenges we set and often exceeding the high expectations we have. Many of our learners achieve accredited qualifications which are testimony to the progress they make whilst in PfA. Enterprise and employability are important to us in PfA and we are always thinking creatively and innovatively to involve our learners in exciting and engaging enterprise activities, equipping our learners with skills and knowledge which could support them in the world of work.
