Community Drop Down Day 2023

14th November 2023 was our Community Day.  We invited people from our local community into school and ventured out to see how we could help people in our local area.

Every pupil in school drew something inspired by the word 'community'.  We had lots of people, places and words drawn which we plan to pull together and create a huge whole school piece of artwork.

We also had lots of visitors in school including:

  • The police - complete with their police van and horses
  • Our recycling councillor who worked with children to litter pick in the local area including visiting Headfield School
  • Headfield School who helped to put the finishing touches to our forest school area
  • Bespoke who brought 4 ex pupils along and joined forces with our pupils to build an art collage
  • We made an afternoon tea for people that have helped and supported our school this year - made and served by pupils
  • Some pupils did a tour of the local area on the way to swimming, spotting landmarks on the way
  • A group visited Ruddi's Retreat in Huddersfield and learnt about their work and took part in a chocolate making workshop
  • Huddersfield Giants came to school to work with secondary pupils on their rugby and teamworking skills.
