The School has been awarded the Kirklees Parenting Support Quality Assurance Award.
The Quality Award is endorsed by the Life Long Learning UK and has a range of standards for working with adults/parents or carers over a variety of services. It is based on a National Standard and clearly defines a minimum practice for parenting support.
A small team of dedicated staff at Ravenshall put together all of the relevant documents and information to show how we as a school support the adults, parents/carers of the pupils in our school. The staff attended several workshops and mentoring sessions to enable them to work through the 10 sections in the award and to meet the awards criteria.
The marking is based on a traffic light system according to criteria met:
red = 0-2 not in place
amber = 3-8 in place, but not complete
green = 9 in place
green = 10 in place example of best practice
In many sections we scored 7, mainly 8/9, and in some we scored 10. In that time the school will endeavour to improve areas that require development to ensure best practice.
As part of this on-going improvement key staff have already run two very successful parenting groups:
All practice is evaluated and evidenced.
The school continues to foster and develop working relationships with parents and carers.
Future possible areas for development would be to engage more parental involvement could include ESOL (English as a second language); Literacy; Numeracy: ICT; cooking; signing etc.
