The Zone @ Ravenshall
The Zone was set up at Ravenshall in September 2012 as an enrichment provision to maximise the engagement and motivation of pupils across the curriculum. Through the use of up to date multimedia technologies such as 'Green Screen', numerous exciting projects have been produced in the Zone. All classes throughout school continually have access to the facilities that The Zone has to offer, it is lead by our resident experts Mr Wright, supported by Miss Booth. The provision has become so popular it is necessary that classes book well in advance to work on their creative projects.
The Zone experts are continually finding new production techniques and ways to enhance the everyday experience for our students using new multimedia platforms across the school.
In November 2014, Radio Ravenshall recorded it's first show and has since grown in popularity; the show now broadcasts every Friday lunchtime in the playground for everyone to have a little boogie and to listen to the entertaining banter provided by our student DJ's.
The Zone also offers the opportunity for KS4 students to achieve a Bronze Level Arts Award in Film Making as an option for one of the KS4 Pathways. Within this, each student gets to grips with professional film making equipment and software, in order to produce an extensive portfolio including a documentary written, developed and produced by the indivudual student themselves.
In June 2017 a refurbishment of the Zone saw a number of improvements which will facilitate more adventurous productions in the future and provide a more engaging working environment for our students.
