Investors In Pupils

Investors In Pupils

June 2018

We are delighted to announce that Ravenshall recently achieved proficient in our self-validation for Investors in Pupils.

We had the opportunity to showcase all the marvellous things our pupils do and how they contribute to all the different aspects of how the school is run.

Pupils at Ravenshall have an imperative role and are very proud of what they do; during this review we were able to showcase the impact students have on day to day life at Ravenshall.

Our areas of strengths were;

  • The role of Sports Leaders in school.
  • The impact Student Ambassadors have on the school.
  • How Student Play-workers from KS3 help in Primary.
  • Student impact on financial decisions such as what prizes would be good in the Dojo shop.
  • Changes made to the Dojo shop to make them more accessible for all pupils at Ravenshall.
  • The Drop Down Days and the staff roles pupils took on for this day.

Well done to all the pupils who have these roles at school, as these help make our school what it is today.

In July 2017 the school initiated a re-validation for Investors in Pupils with a target of Spring term 2018 for completion.

Lead members of staff are:

  • Mr Hudson
  • Mrs Collins
  • Mrs Lewis

Investors in Pupils is a quality award that is built upon five key areas:

  1. Attendance
  2. Behaviour
  3. Classroom Management
  4. Learning
  5. Induction

An Investors in Pupils school recognises that pupils are the central focus of the school, actively involving pupils in everyday decision making, listening to their views, responding to their needs and encouraging them to take on additional roles and responsibilities.

It is an opportunity for all our children to develop their skills and understanding to take full and active part in their learning journey.

We have been working very closely with the School Council members, who have taken back to their form groups ideas and initiatives which have helped us work towards this award.  These have included :-

  • Adopt a Governor Scheme
  • School / class induction book
  • Learning about school finance
  • Talking to members of staff

We hope this will be an exciting initiative for the whole school to be involved with.

In July 2011 the school was awarded Investors in Pupils Status fulfilling all the necessary criteria for assessment.
