The annual residential trip for Year 9 pupils took place during the final week of June. Fifteen pupils and five members of staff headed off to the Lakeside YMCA Activity Centre in Cumbria for a week of adventure and team building activities.
Pupils had the opportunity to undertake a number of outdoor adventurous activities including abseiling, archery, climbing, high ropes, kayaking, king swing, raft building and the Zip Wire.
All the activities gave pupils the opportunity to work as part of a team and support their personal development. This included developing social skills and co-operating with others. The week was also an opportunity to build confidence and resilience.
Pupils were kept very busy throughout the week with up to three activities a day taking place. This was despite some very wet weather on occasion. However the attitude and perseverance of the pupils and staff to continue and carry on, despite the persistent rain, should be greatly commended.
After a fun filled but hard working week the final day of the residential saw all the pupils, staff and Lakeside instructors undertake a group canoe trip across Lake Windermere for a well-earned ice cream treat.
